2.Can I  register Stormerhost without placing an order?

Yes. Click on the CLIENTS button in the navigation. Click “Account” on Client-Area navigation menu then select register.

3.Will I have unlimited access to update and make changes to my pages?

You have unlimited access via FTP and the Web-based File Manager 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. As such, you can create and maintain your Web pages on your own computer and upload files to your website at your leisure.

 

4.How long does it take to set up a new account?

New accounts are guaranteed to be set up within 30 minutes from the time we receive payment for your order. Once an account is set up an activation notice will be sent to you via e-mail including your account information. You can begin uploading files to your new website immediately. You will be given a temporary web address to access the site prior to the completion of either domain registration or domain transfer so you can start working with your account right away.

 

5.Can you host domain names other than .com .net .org .biz .info and .us?

Stormerhost can host any domain name. However, we only offer a limited assortment of domains that can be registered or transferred to us. For a list of these domains Click Here.

 

6.Can I have additional domain names point to my hosting account?

You will have the option to point multiple domains at the same directory (e.g. domain.com and domain.net point to the same place), or to separate directories (e.g. domain1.com to /domain1directory/, domain2.com to /domain2directory/).

 

7.Do you require “Advertising” on my website?

No, we do not require any forced advertising on your website. Once you sign up for an account, you have complete control over content and information contained in your website. As long as you stay within our Policy and Guidelines, you can display anything you like.

 

8.Do you offer Windows based hosting?

Not at this time. Stormerhost currently runs all Linux based servers.

 

9.I don’t have a website yet, why should I register a domain now?

Domain names are going at the rate of more than 300,000 a month. Registering your domain name now ensures your ownership of the domain name that may not otherwise be available when you want it. 10.What if I misspelled my domain name?

 How can I login ?

Click on the CLIENTS button in the navigation. Click on small login icon on Client-Area or click “Account” on client area navigation menu then select login. Input your login details to login.

How can I change my password?

Click on the menu item Accounts and select Change Password in the drop-down. Input your old  password and your new one on the form. Click SAVE CHANGES.

Why do I have to provide my personal details?

Can I leave my profile blank or partially filled? It is the requirement of ICANN, the international governing body for domain names, according to which every domain registrar ought to maintain a publicly accessible “WHOIS” database. This database contains contact details of all the domain owners. If you do not provide a complete information your domain name may be deleted from the domain registry.

 

How can I update my personal details?

Click on the top-menu item Accounts and select Account details in the drop-down. On the form that will appear edit the necessary field(s).

Yes. You may monitor disk space and bandwidth usage from within your cPanel or Account.

How much does additional bandwidth cost?

If you need additional bandwidth for your account you will need to upgrade to a larger plan. The cost will depend upon the plan you select. You can also log into your Account at any time to view your current bandwidth usage statistics.

Can I upgrade my account if I need to?

Yes. You can upgrade your account at anytime. You will pay the difference between your current account and your new account. There are no extra fees involved in upgrading. You can upgrade your account by logging into your Account. Click on Services, then click on the product or service.

How do I transfer files to my website?

Files must be transferred to the Web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP) or your account’s Web-based File Manager.

When I register a domain name, who will have ownership of it?

When you register a domain name with Stormerhost, you will have full ownership of your domain name. This means that you can move your domain name somewhere else or modify it however you want. You have full control over your domain name.

How long does it take before my domain name is active?

Your domain name becomes active right after registration. Registering or transferring a domain from another provider to link to Stormerhost’s servers usually takes about 12-24 hours to be active. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect the new site’s location.

Can I transfer a domain name registered someplace else to Stormerhost's domain registration service?

Yes, it is possible to transfer your domain registration to Stormerhost. To do so you need to fill out the order form select “Transfer your Existing Domain”, and enter the EPP authorization code. Once you do that we can proceed to transfer your domain name. Pricing for domain transfers and renewals varies by domain type (TLD) and may be seen on our order form.

Important Note: In order to transfer your registration to us you must submit your request to us at least 14 days before your domain name expires at its current registrar. If it’s past that date you’ll have to renew with the current registrar. Your domain name must be “unlocked” with the current registrar, and you will frequently need a domain transfer code or “EPP code”.

Will there be any downtime in transferring my domain name registration to Stormerhost?

There is no downtime associated with transferring your domain name registration to Stormerhost. Once the domain is transferred you may wish to change the DNS on your domain to point to our name servers. If you do change your DNS servers, this can introduce downtime of up to 24 hours.

How long does it take for the DNS to update?

From the time you change the DNS on your domain name to point to our name servers it will take approximately 12-24 hours for the change to propagate throughout the Internet and become active. During this time your website may be down until the change has fully propagated through the Internet.

How do I login to my " cPanel " control panel?

1.Login to your email account. Open the Welcome Guide email for your purchased hosting account.

2. Move down to the section “cPanel Login Details”.  Click on the first Control Panel URL to access cPanel login page (You may also use the second url once your domain name is fully propagated ).

Can I login to my cPanel from the Client-Area?

Yes. Click on services.

How to set up Email Account (cPanel)

1.Login to your cpanel (www.yourdomain.com/cpanel) and click on “Email Accounts” in the mail section. (You may read more on how to login to your cPanel from our knowledgebase)

3. Type in the prefix you would like for your email account (eg. info, support, service , ceo, boss, help etc.) in the first field as indicated in the image below. Whatever you type in this field would be  “@yourdomain.com ” (i.e your registered domain). Enter your password and disk space for your email account(disk space shouldn’t exceed the size of your current hosting account)

4.Successful email created would be shown as displayed below. You may change account password, disk space or delete email account on this same page.

How to access your webmail (read your email).

1.Enter ” webmail.yourdomain.com” (where, yourdomain.com is the registered domain for your hosting account. So if I registered “www.mynewcompany.com” for my hosting account, the url or link to my webmail would be “webmail.mynewcompany.com”). You may also access your webmail account from the Client-Area.
